It is fact that dental anesthesia can numb your mouth but it is only a side effect. In fact, it is the anesthesia which saves you from a lot of pain and discomfort during and after the treatment. Typically, the injections are used for administering anesthesia. These injections are of two types.
- The first type to talk about involves block injections. This anesthesia can numb an entire portion of the mouth, i.e. a full side of the mouth or one of the jaws.
- Another type of injections is the Infiltration injection. This injection numbs a small portion. Typically, it is used when the small area around a tooth needs to be numbed.

But the major downside of this numbing is that your mouth is going to stay numbed for several hours after the treatment.
