But, let’s say that you smile, and you’re scared of the space between the teeth being discolored, uneven, or maybe even it will forever mar the photos of what should be the happiest day of your life.

It doesn’t have to be like this though. Whitening techniques are now used to help make your smile dreams a reality, especially during your wedding day.

If you think your smile will ruin your pictures or make you self-conscious, then the wedding is the perfect time to have a smile makeover. This is a great thing to have, and you should always consider getting a consultation when you get engaged. That way, if anything happens, there is leeway, since you can get a cosmetic dentist there to help give you the smile that you’ve always wanted.

So many factors can come affect the initial outcome, including the straightness of your teeth, the condition of the gums, and whether you have crowns or fillings underneath. That’s why, it’s best to be evaluated right before your big event, and if there is anything wrong, it can be fixed.

However, we’ll discuss here the benefits of a smile makeover before a wedding, and why it should be considered.

White Wedding, White Smile

Most people before a wedding want a brighter smile, so whitening your teeth is something a lot of people do right before a wedding, and with the availability of so many types of tooth whitening available these days, you’ll have a lot of options for what you need. If you have nice teeth at are straight, and they all look the same color overall, then you probably will just need some whitening strips to help make this work, and that will give you that extra little boost. But for those of us with a significant amount of discoloration, the strips might not be enough.

You have the take-home trays and some laser whitening. Both are good, and have their drawbacks. At the end of the day, it’s what you want as a personal preference. If your teeth are dark and you want them quickly whitened for a bit, then the laser whitening is the best. It’s also good for those who don’t like to spend a lot of time wearing mouth trays either.

The take home trays are more expensive than the laser whitening and they do take more time, but they offer a deeper whitening because your teeth while have the whitening gel on them for a much longer period of time, and might be the answer you’re looking for.

You can always get this touched up right before the big wedding.

What About Restorations?

You might want to get restorations if you have a chipped, cracked, or otherwise unseemly tooth that’s bothering you. If your teeth are too stained for normal whitening, this might be an option too.

Bonding is usually the first line for this, since this improves the appearance of those teeth which are chipped, broken, cracked, or they have some form of space between them. With bonding, the tooth-colored materials are applied, or bonded to the surface of the tooth. Usually, we fill the spaces with those cosmetic bonding material, closing this in a way that’s simple, and not invasive either.

The other option is of course veneers. This is popular for most brides and grooms since they’re basically shells that cover the front and the teeth sides, and will treat the spaces and gaps between teeth in a way that’s quick and easy. Plus, it also works with those that are worn, stained, badly shaped, or even crooked slightly.

Finally, you have crowns which will be used if you can’t get veneers to work. Crowns are basically a cap that’s put over the tooth, restoring the size, shape, strength, or even improve the appearance of the tooth. They usually lay above the gumline as well.

Cosmetic Tooth Contouring

Another thing you can get right before your wedding is of course, cosmetic tooth contouring. This is where minor defects in your teeth are changed and shaped so that they look better. It’s like filing nails, where you file one part of the tooth down a little bit, and they’re cheaper than of course, going for say full braces or even a crown. It’s kind of like fingernail filing so that everything is all neatly in place, and you’ll be amazed at the difference this makes beforehand.

Braces or aligners?

There is a chance that maybe you want to have braces before your wedding. While this might bea good idea, please understand that they don’t’ work overnight. If you plan to do this, give yourself at least a year of leeway if you want a perfect smile.

You can get braces as an adult, or you can just get clear aligners. Both of which are good, but the aligners almost work better, since they are less visible, and they work much faster. So if you’re having a wedding relatively soon, this might be the better option for you.

However, do understand that braces and aligner are also very expensive, and if you just need a few teeth corrected, you might be better off with getting veneers rather than this option. But again, this is ultimately your choice, and up to you and what you want out of your braces experience.

Of course, understand that no matter what you choose, you can improve your smile right before your wedding. But you should also understand that there are a few things you should keep in mind. First, make sure that you get a dentist that’s a skilled cosmetic dentist. They can help you make the best decision, and you can also talk to yourdentist about what existing patients are getting, and you can also look at the quality that they’re providing as well.

Most dentists are gettingcontinuingeducation too, so if you’re worried about whether or not your dentist can do the job, ask them about their continuing education. They should be able to realistically tell you exactly what their continuing education is, and if they cannot, that’s a sign you might want to go with a different dentist, and they may not be ideal for the actions at hand that you’ll need to take.

No matter what you choose though, no matter what you decide to get though, a dentist will help you with your wedding and improving it. You’ll be able to, with a dentist’s help, get the exciting treatment that will change the way your smile looks, and you’ll be so much happier as a result of this too. Figure out for yourself exactly what it is that you want to get, and also figure out too what you’re planning on going to get, so you can, once the wedding bells chime, have a lot of fun, and improve your experience as well.
